Dream Lost

You were a dream,

a thought
and then a reality;
proof that prayers really can be answered.

You were the hope for tomorrow,

a building block of our future.

You were wanted, needed;

Loved .

Before you ever took first breath,

I had held you in my arms
and sung you lullabies.
I saw your future.

Ever so fleeting,
Were the plans
I had made for you.

Before a moment had passed,

you were gone.
I was
empty.

Like a farmer
with a barren field,

I wondered...

Would another seed take hold

grow. . .would the field yet

blossom. . .a cold wind blows.

No answer came. . . and still

I wondered

You were summoned

Home-

A place far greater than the one

you left behind.

I will never understand

His plan

But accept

He needed you

more than I.
